Speech delivered by His Excellency Peter Munya, Governor for Meru County during a press conference held on September 23, 2013
Today is a special day in my political career; after months of waiting, I am delighted today to stand in front of all of you men and women from this great county on this day.
I first of all thank the almighty God, my supporters, friends and family who stood with me during the entire legal process.
Ladies and Gentlemen: it’s indeed relieving for me to work without legal worries. All I can say is that, I am ready to work with all including my opponents. Meru is blessed with resources; Farmers, women, youth and children need to be empowered therefore the time for politicking is over thus we need to forge ahead.
I will as always practice open-door policy and be in the forefront of championing balanced and un-skewed allocation of resources.
From the office of the Governor, we will truly and sincerely give all the support to the people of this county and to investors who want to exploit every chance to prosper.
As good citizens, let us play our part for the good of Meru County, for ourselves and for future generations.
I am happy the constitution was justified and I’m ready to defend it.
