Sh.24 million equipment installed at Githongo hospital and pharmaceutical budget increase to Sh.220 million

The County Government of Meru has installed Sh.24 million equipment at Githongo Sub County Hospital to enhance service delivery to patients.
Meru Governor Peter Munya said his administration has cut costs patients used to endure travelling far distances in search of health services.
Some of the modern machines in the hospital are Ultra sound machines, new theatre and operating tables, Anaesthetic machines, baby incubator new inpatient Wards among others and will continue equipping.
"We have spent more than 24 million installing equipment in Githongo hospital. So far my administration has built 47 dispensaries raising the number from 86 to 136 dispensaries. 29 more are under construction," he when he visited the area.
He said his government has increased the annual budget for pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceuticals from Sh.57 million in 2012 to Sh.220 million.
Governor Munya added that his administration has also increased the inpatient bed capacity from 720 beds in public sector in 2013 to 1,088 to date.
