Kinoru to be ready for Chan 2018

MERU, September 13 ---- The 2018 Africa Home Nations Championships (CHAN) event directors and Kenyan football officials on Wednesday conducted the third inspection on the progress of Kinoru Stadium ahead of the January 2018 championship.

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa at a press conference in Meru thanked the Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi for signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the County Government and Sports Kenya. The MoU signed two weeks ago paved way for the ongoing second phase construction fully funded by the National Government.

"We have already identified training pitches and hotels for the four teams that will compete in Meru," Mwendwa told reporters. "We are working round the clock to have to have the new pitch, VIP area, stands, giant screens, security, lighting and PA systems ready as scheduled," Mwendwa assured.

Kiraitu Murungi expressed optimism on the progress and promised to continue supporting the team to make the games a success.

Isiolo Airport

Mr. Mwendwa said the new airport will ease access to Meru for football players, officials, and journalists during the games. The inspection team and Meru Governor had flown to Isiolo in the Morning before proceeding to Meru by road.
