Also the Football fans and spectators were immensely pleased by work done at Kinoru stadium after successful play between Tusker FC and AFC Leopards.

Some noted that there is no other County that had such a structure initiated and completed by the devolved units since 2013.

The Meru Governor Peter Munya who was present during the tournament commended both of the teams.

He said his main agenda was to transform the County and its people through developments and boosting businesses in every sector.

"The face-lift is geared at providing a standard venue for competitions and tournaments between teams from within and outside the county. We have always consulted with international specialists," he said.

Governor Munya said Kinoru stadium has a sitting capacity of 20, 000 people and is expected to be hosting national and international games and tournaments.

"Kinoru is the third best stadium in the Country. It is the cheapest, less expenditure and resources has been used refurbishing it. Go and have a look unto what other stadiums in Kenya look like and compare the amount they were allocated," he said.


Members of the CAF sub-committee delegation, led by chairman Engineer John Rugu, and Landscape Architect at Gorgia Development Company Daniel Collta on May 3rd 2017 inspected the stadium and expressed their impression of work done in the field so far.

But they recommended and promised to deploy experts to work on some few other areas to certify that it meets the required standards to host the Africa championships in January next year.

Kinoru is expected to host African Championship of Nations or CHAN) football tournament in January next year. It is played between the best national teams of Africa.

Tusker football club officially made stadium their preferred venue for practice and league competitions with the rest of Kenyan teams
