Countys Sh. 495 million bursaries disbursed four students given scholarship in each ward

The County government of Meru has distributed Sh. 495 million bursary funds totaling to at least Sh.12 million per ward and four students have benefited from free scholarship program.
According to Meru Governor Peter Munya the scholarships were given according to vulnerability of student and those who were bright.
The program was rolled out two years ago by governor Munya.
Munya said "We have issued Sh. 495 million bursaries to schools in every ward that translates to almost Sh.12 million per ward. In endeavors to nature and liberate our children from abject suffering, my administration has awarded full scholarships from form 1-4 to more than 183 bright but needy students. All stakeholders are involved during selection to ensure fairness and success of the program" .
Munya added that his government annually gives polytechnic students a capitation fee of Sh. 7, 000 and has bought and installed equipment for sufficient learning materials.
"The County Government has disbursed Sh.21 million capitation for 2, 739 trainees each Sh. 7, 931 in VTCs. We have built a workshop in every polytechnic in the County. We have employed polytechnic tutors," he said.
