Kiraitu Administration And Nlc Pledge Collaboration To Streamline Implementation Of Development Projects

The Deputy Governor of Meru County Titus Ntuchiu has this evening met and held discussions with officials from the National Lands Commission (NLC) led by Commissioner Hon. Tiyah Galgalo and Commissioner Reginald Okumu, who paid him a courtesy call.

DG Ntuchiu noted that among the issues discussed, is the strengthening of working relationship and collaboration between NLC and Meru County Government Department of Lands, where the commission has developed Guidelines for Access to Public Land by Private Institutions for Agricultural Development which will help implementation of various revolutionary programs that have come to Meru in a big way under the leadership of Governor Kiraitu Murungi, and are massively transforming the economy and lives of Meru people.

"These programs include NARIGP, ABDP, KOPIA, ‘Maziwa’ Project and many others. For instance, in NARIGP, groups of farmers have put forward requests to put up projects on parcels of public land, while in Meru Youth Service (MYS), our Governor is spearheading a massive project to empower Meru youth, which will occupy hundreds of acres of land at ‘Kwa Ng’ombe’ in Nyaki West, Imenti North, and all these developments require guidance and collaboration with NLC," added the DG.

He further said the commission is also working with Governor Kiraitu’s Government to address various pertinent issues such as land adjudications and other matters especially in ongoing titling process to ensure residents of Meru are free to develop their parcels in order to empower themselves economically in line with the vision of Making Meru Great.
