Kiraitu Government Reopens The Newly Renovated Meru Town Main Bus Stage

Meru Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu has this evening presided over the dedication and reopening of Meru Main Matatu terminus (Main Stage) where he represented Governor Kiraitu Murungi who was out of the County in Isiolo on official duty, at the official launch of the construction of the 740km Isiolo -Mandera highway that will have a 72km section in Meru County and is expected to bring various development projects for Meru people in Igembe and other northern parts of the County bordering Isiolo.

The Meru Main Stage has been paved and renovated by Kiraitu’s administration to improve the environment for the business operators. DG Ntuchiu thanked all stakeholders especially Matatu owners and all those who do business at the terminus for cooperating with County officials and the contractor during the construction process.

He noted that next, Kiraitu’s administration will be embarking on renovation, rehabilitation and improvement of various remaining streets including Standard Bank street, paving and construction of roads around Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital (MeTRH), repair of road shoulders as well as filling of portholes.

"We shall also continue improvement of Gakoromone market in addition to ongoing construction of Makutano green produce market," he added.

He said the administration has already constructed 154 modern kiosks for small business owners and is continuing to construct more as well as engaging others including the small vendors (‘hawkers’) in order to improve their businesses.

The DG also added that Governor Kiraitu has successfully negotiated with President Kenyatta for construction of a dual carriage across Meru town from Gikumene to Meru National Polytechnic which is expected to begin soon and they have directed that the mega project should engage as many of Meru youth as possible so that they can earn a living while participating in the agenda of Making Meru Great.

He noted that many more projects are underway to ensure transformation of Meru town into a city.
