Chinese Schools Donate Art Work Equipment To Meru County Schools Following Friendship Agreement Signed Last Year By Governor Kiraitu.

This afternoon, Governor Kiraitu Murungi met the Africa-China Culture and Art Gallery Director Mr. Duan Hongliang who paid him a courtesy call and donated various items for learners which will be distributed in 83 schools across Meru County.

The items included various paraphernalia necessary for learning and creations of art such as pencil pouches, balls, pencils, colours, book marks, bags and scrolls with messages of excellence during learning.

During today’s meeting Governor Kiraitu and Mr. Hongliang also discussed interests from investors in Hunan Province who have raised intentions to visit Meru County to explore trade opportunities in coffee and chili pepper. They agreed that the investors will be introduced to Meru farmers in the ongoing efforts to expand market for agricultural produce and empowerment of the County farmers.

These items have been donated by partner primary schools from the Hunan Province of China in line with friendship partnership agreement that Kiraitu government signed with Hunan last year for collaboration and promotion of tourism, trade, culture, education and other areas of mutual interests between the two peoples.

Governor Kiraitu added that in line with the partnership agreement, his administration will work closely with Africa-China Culture and Art Gallery to promote Meru youth and expose their artefacts and creative genius to China and the world especially through studios and other art work spaces that will be availed at Kinoru Stadium once the Stadium is handed over to the County Government by end of January next year. The handover process has been delayed by the COVID-19 situation.
