H.E Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza this morning held discussions with the Kenya Red Cross - Meru county team.
Her Excellency's administration will enhance collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross to increase access to clean water, improved sanitation, health, hygiene, nutrition, food security, resilience to disasters and climate change. Through the collaboration, they will strengthen disaster mitigation, preparedness and response to emergency.
Currently, the Kenya Red Cross is training two of our county's public health officers in Murang'a that will act as TOTs to other officers after training.
During this drought period they have assisted over 1,800 families with cash transfers to buy food.
The county government will provide Kenya Red Cross with public land to enhance their operations and increase their accessibility to all corners of Meru county. Her Excellency and the institution will finalize their areas of collaboration on Monday 6th of February, during her inauguration as the Kenya Red Cross Patron by the National Red Cross team.
