The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) CEO Miss Terry Kiunge Ramadhani, paid a courtesy call to H.E Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza and her Deputy Hon Rev Mutuma M'Ethingia who is also the Ag. CEC for Health, while on a familiarization tour in our county. Their discussions were centered on working modalities between KEMSA and Meru county government on how to improve primary healthcare services in Meru county by improving supply response rates of essential medical supplies, to ensure that at no given time will our hospitals and health facilities be out of drugs.

Miss Ramadhani indicated readiness to partner with us in training pharmacists so that they know how to quantify and aggregate the needs of smaller facilities across the county. Further, the institution will continue to support the county with supplies to facilitate outreaches and medical camps.

The KEMSA CEO conveyed an assurance that going forward, the county government of Meru will be able to obtain a supply of basic drug stocks within 7-10 days. Additionally, she indicated willingness to extend credit to the county government when needed, so as to facilitate continuity in service delivery.

Her Excellency the Governor affirmed that her administration is result oriented and geared towards delivering quality services to the common mwananchi. As such, the budgetary allocation for drug acquisition, has been increased from Ksh 150 million to Ksh 400 million. This will ensure an end to drug shortages in all hospitals.
