Digital Land Governance Programme To Curb Food & Nutrition Insecurity In Meru County

Meru county Finance and Lands CECM Monicah Kathono has presided over a meeting where the implementation of the Digital Land Governance Programme was discussed at length and in depth. The components of food security and climate change featured prominently in the discussion as food security is crucial in H.E Hon Bishop Kawira Mwangaza's manifesto.
The programme which will be implemented in partnership with the national government and other governmental and non-governmental sectors, will conduct sensitization of policy makers in the county Executive and Assembly on the impact of land fragmentation, which is posing a serious food security threat in our county where the economy is largely funded by agricultural practices.
The programme's output will include: enhanced, efficient and effective land governance through digitization and digitalization of land records and processes; support establishment of county land registries; integration of land information and customized functionalities as well as
supporting development of customized frameworks and guidelines for alternative justice systems which include traditional dispute resolution. These issues are very key in Meru county and H.E Governor Kawira is in full support of the implementation of this programme.
