USAID Jamii Tekelezi Program And County Partnership To Reduce HIV/AIDS Prevalence.

Officials from the USAID Jamii Tekelezi Program, a county-level service delivery program for HIV prevention, care and treatment, today paid a courtesy call to Meru Deputy Governor and Ag. CEC for Health, H.E Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia led by Dr. Mutugi M'Muriithi, the program’s Chief of Party. The program enables partnering counties to achieve epidemiological control of HIV infections and provides capacity building interventions for targeted health systems to help county governments establish sustainable programs.

During the meeting, Hon. M’Ethingia praised the officials for their effective program in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The county government fully supports the program which is geared towards making the lives of Meru people better.

This administration is committed to addressing the complicated challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS in the family, community and national levels. By transitioning services and responsibilities offered by the program to the counties, the county government's response to HIV/AIDS will be enhanced and access to quality HIV treatment services will be increased while protecting the rights and welfare of children and adolescents affected by the disease.
