Governor Kawira Mwangaza Leads Meru County In Commemorating 61st Madaraka Day: Embracing Agriculture And Sustainable Development
Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza led the people of Meru County in commemorating the 61st Madaraka Day celebrations. The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the efforts of the founding fathers in achieving sovereignty for the country. Themed 'Agriculture and Food Security', the County Government of Meru has invested significantly in the Agricultural Sector through various initiatives. These include the successful countywide registration of farmers, distribution of dairy goats, provision of funds to Farmer Producer Organizations and coffee societies, construction of aggregation and value addition centers, mass livestock vaccination drives, and issuance of dairy cows under the One Dairy Cow, One Needy Family Program. These efforts are aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices, increasing productivity, and enhancing profitability.
Governor Mwangaza reaffirmed the county's commitment to sustainable development, emphasizing self-sustenance, self-esteem, and freedom from servitude. The county has also made commendable strides in infrastructure development, promoting access to quality education, enhancing healthcare delivery, promoting social development and the empowerment of youth and women, modernizing markets, and ensuring reliable access to water in all households.
