The First Lady Phoebe Munya was honoured by Kenya Library Association on Thursday 26th November for her efforts to promote reading culture through her "Meru First Lady Reading Club"campaign.

Speaking at the event held at Meru Slopes Hotel Dr Tirong arap Tanui the Kenya Library Association chairman applauded her for the initiative set change the lives of school going children.

The First Lady said she was humbled with recognition conferred to her. Since the onset of the campaign, the department of education records shows a significant increase in the uptake of developing reading culture in schools in the county.

Mrs Munya who is also the secretary of the First Ladies Association, said children in the counties were being denied an opportunity to read as result of inadequate books and library.
