On Sunday, Mitunguu fc, a community club made their debut in the third tier FKF division 1 league that kicked off countrywide. The match against Thika's Commercial fc ended in a barren draw. Next weekend, the team will travel to Nairobi to face Liberty Academy fc coached by Ghost Mulee. Mitunguu fc earned promotion to FKF Division One League 2018 season after coming second to Taveta based Tiki fc during FKF Division Two Northern Zone Mini League finals played at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Monday, December 18th, 2017. Youth and sports executive Daniel Kiogora assured that the County Government will accord the team necessary support saying Mitunguu fc is the only team in one of the high flight leagues in the whole region. He said as a former sportsman, he has a clear and elaborate vision to nurture talents across the County. The youthful area MCA Evans Mawira said he will assist the team get sponsors and also fast track support from the County level where he chairs the sports committee.
