Meru County is keen to embrace cardinal partnerships on investments aimed at sustainable drought management.

Speaking in a meeting with the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) board of directors at the county headquarters, Deputy Governor, Titus Ntuchiu who was in the company of Agriculture CEC, Carol Mutiga and Chief of Staff, Gedion Kimathi, said the county will continue working with the authority to ensure the projects implemented in drought prone areas continues for sustainable development.

The Board Chair, Raphael Nzomo, articulated the authority's readiness to work with Meru government to coordinate and create resilience in drought preparedness. Equally asserted by James Oduor, NDMA CEO, the authority supports counties in drought prone areas, putting in place response mechanisms to minimise impacts of drought.

Other key areas of intervention involved coordinating the control of locusts invasion, fast tracking the completion of waterpans project in Buuri and parts of Tigania, as well as other short term infrastructural, health and nutrition projects in dry areas, inorder to protect livelihoods.
