Governor Kiraitu Murungi Thanks President Uhuru Kenyatta For His Latest Efforts To Revive The Agriculture Sector In Mt. Kenya Region.

Governor Kiraitu Murungi has said that President’s recent directives to effect better prices and improve market conditions for milk, coffee, tea and banana farming, as well as the release of Miraa kitty which is already being used to construct modern Miraa markets in Muringene, Laare and Maua, are greatly a welcome relief to the farmers in the region who had raised alarm due to the apparent collapse that was being witnessed.
The Governor also expressed his appreciation to the President for appointing Hon. Peter Munya as the new CS for Agriculture, noting that being a son of the region, Mr. Munya will be best placed to deal with issues that have plagued and nearly cropped the sector which was once and envy of other areas in the country.
On his part Senator Mithika Linturi denounced allegations that he had disrespected the President, saying that he only seeks to point out issues to the President which he thinks needs to be addressed for the good of residents. He added that he, Governor Kiraitu and other Meru leaders will study the BBI report and guide the residents appropriately, so that Meru is not left out of the sharing of the national cake.
They were speaking during the burial ceremony of the late Albert Kimathi Kamencu former Councilor of Athiru Gaiti ward and former Chairman of Nyambene County Council.
