Over A 2000 Population Beneficiary Urban Water Project To Address Meru Town's Water Shortage.
550 households from Tungi, Gikumene and Gachanka benefits from Meru Urban Water extension project spearheaded by Governor Kiraitu Murungi through Meru Water and Sanitation Services (MEWASS)
While launching the water project at Gikumene crossroads, Mewass CEO Joseph Mberia said the project will serve atleast 5 people per household translating to over 2000 population, adding this was one of the 100 day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) that kicked -off in November last year.
The Corporation has in the same arrangements also constructed Muriri water project that will serve the people of Muriri and Karama, as well as Rwanyambo serving residents in Meru Technical environs. Sarah Karambu and Nancy Kobia are some of the residents who expressed an anticipation of a better future with the water project. Karambu particularly thanked the county leadership saying the water will promote her rental business since tenants earlier on would oftenly vacate the rooms due to water scarcity.
