Nchamba Mbithii Harrison Gitonga

My name is Nchamba Mbithii Harrison Gitonga, a Kenyan national born on 25th August 1980. I am currently serving as the Chief of Staff for Meru County, a position I was appointed to in August 2022.

I hold a Master of Science in Agricultural and Rural Development, which I earned from Kenya Methodist University between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management at Egerton University, where I graduated with second-class honors (upper division) between 2002 and 2007. I also hold a KCSE (B plain) and KCPE (71 points) certification from Abothuguchi High School and Nkuriga Primary School, respectively.

In terms of professional experience, I have had the privilege of working with various reputable organizations and entities. From 2014 to 2017, I served as a Personal Assistant to Hon. Kathuri Murungi M.P, South Imenti Constituency, under the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). Subsequently, between 2017 and 2022, I worked as the Manager of the South Imenti Constituency Office under the same commission.

I have also worked as a Project Manager for the Agriculture and Livelihood Project GRADIF-K between 2013 and 2014, where I was tasked with coordinating the implementation of the agriculture and value chain project. In 2012, I served as a Project Coordinator for the Sorghum for Multiple Use (SMU) project, which was implemented in Tharaka Nithi, Makueni, Meru, and Kitui Counties, under the Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International (AHBFI).

Other notable roles I have held include Relationship Officer for Agribusiness at Equity Bank in 2011, Field Coordinator for Makueni County Africa Harvest/IFAD Food Security and Ecosystem Management for Sustainable Livelihoods in ASALs of Kenya (FOSEM) in 2010, and Field Coordinator for Meru South/Maara EAML/AH Sorghum Project under AHBFI in 2009. I also worked as the In-Charge of Seedling Nurseries in all K.P.C.U. Branches countrywide under the K.P.C.U. Field Services Department in 2007-2008 and as a Research Assistant at Meru National Park in 2006.

Aside from my professional experience, I am also an active member of the community, and I am passionate about volunteering in youth activities that focus on environmental conservation, poverty reduction, and sustainable use of natural resources. I also enjoy reading motivational and inspirational books and magazines, watching educational and developmental videos, and engaging in community services.

Some of my key skills and strengths include my drive to succeed in any undertaking, good inter-personal and leadership skills, quick adaptability to new environments, excellent communication skills, and a strong ability to work well in a team. I am also imaginative and enterprising and possess a high level of energy and eagerness to demonstrate my skills.
