On behalf of Governor Kawira Mwanagaza, CECM Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries, Dr. Faith Mwende, alongside Nyaki East MCA Hon. Josphat Muuna have today presided over the issuance of Dairy Goats of the Toggenburg breed to 5 farmer groups under the Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP): Blessed Women Group, Karimi Women Group, Kirima Itune Conservation SHG, Rwanthuka B8 Indigenous Culture for Ecology (ICE) and Kiama Farmers Self Help Group.
In addition, the beneficiaries have also received; dairy meals, mineral blocks (salt), vaccines, burdizzos, hoof trimmers as well as acaricides.
The initiative serves on supplement basis to crop farming and is a suitable first step towards wealth creation.
