MERU COUNTY GOVERNOR H.E REV. MUTUMA M'ETHINGIA LEADS DEVELOPMENTAL TOUR IN MUKINDURI WARD
Governor H.E. Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia undertook a comprehensive developmental tour of Mikinduri Ward, underscoring his administration’s unwavering commitment to addressing local challenges and accelerating transformative projects across Meru County.
Community Engagement at Mulika Market
The Governor began his tour with a consultative meeting at Mulika Market, engaging directly with residents who voiced several urgent issues affecting their livelihoods. Key concerns raised included:
The need for construction of classrooms at Kiguru and KK Muthangene.
Equipping of the Mulika Dispensary and revival of its non-functional maternity wing.
Persistent water shortages, calling for the activation of the Kubio Giant Water Project.
Poor road conditions, especially along the Muthanga feeder road.
The absence of a bridge at Kangethia, affecting connectivity.
Inadequate street lighting, compromising market security and access.
Governor Mutuma assured residents of swift and sustainable interventions, with a priority focus on education, health, water, and infrastructure.
Honoring Tradition: Meeting with Njuri Ncheke Elders
In a special moment of reflection and respect, the Governor held a brief but heartfelt meeting with members of the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders. The meeting held personal significance for Governor Mutuma, whose late father, Mzee Paul M’Ethingia, was a former Chair of both the Meru Council of Elders and the Kenya Council of Elders.
Consultation on Integrated Strategic Development Plan
At St. Massimo Catholic Church Hall, the Governor joined residents for a pivotal meeting on the Integrated Strategic Development Plan for Mikinduri. Spanning 129 square kilometers, the plan aims to coordinate zoning across critical sectors and establish Mikinduri as the primary urban growth hub in Tigania East.
The Governor emphasized that community involvement remains central to identifying priority projects and locations for key infrastructure. This strategic framework is designed to stimulate economic growth, generate employment, and drive long-term development.
Progress at Mikinduri Level 4 Hospital
Governor Mutuma proceeded to Mikinduri Level 4 Hospital to inspect ongoing construction works. The new outpatient block, now complete, houses 16 specialized rooms catering to eye, ENT, dental, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and nutrition services, among others.
Meanwhile, the construction of the theatre wing is 80% complete and will soon enhance the hospital’s capacity to conduct maternity and general surgical operations, significantly improving healthcare access in the region.
Commitment to Growth and Transformation
The Governor concluded his tour with a public engagement at Mikinduri Market, reiterating his administration's commitment to resolving pressing community issues and steering Mikinduri toward sustainable municipal status. Upcoming plans include targeted initiatives to improve water supply, road networks, and healthcare delivery, all aligned with the county’s broader development agenda.
