Meru County & Co Operative University Unite For Economic Growth.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with key institutions, Governor of Meru County, H.E. Hon. Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia, welcomed a delegation from the Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamau Ngamau. The meeting focused on exploring areas of partnership between the university and the County Government of Meru. Several opportunities for collaboration were discussed, including training programs for county staff and members of co-operative societies, provision of technical support, joint research initiatives, exchange programs and income-generating ventures. The Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening value chains, enhancing the culture of savings, supporting regulatory compliance and improving access to affordable credit. These efforts aim to transform co-operative operations and amplify their impact throughout Meru County. The discussions also included plans to utilize available land and facilities for agricultural training and innovation through CUK’s Schools of Life Sciences and Agribusiness. Once implemented, this initiative is expected to spur job creation, boost the agribusiness sector and contribute significantly to Meru’s overall economic development. This renewed partnership comes at a crucial time, given Meru’s position as a hub for more than 464 active co-operative societies. With shared priorities and a united vision, the Governor affirmed that the County and CUK can develop long-term, practical solutions that will advance the co-operative movement and benefit the community at large. #BuildingMeruTogether #TujengeMeruPamoja
