Meru University Mountain Run Flagged Off By Deputy Governor To Support Needy Students And Boost County Tourism
The Deputy Governor, H.E. Linda Gakii Kiome, flagged off and participated in the Meru University Mountain Run alongside the Meru County First Lady, H.E. Miriam Mutuma, and the CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, Allan Njoroge. The noble event was dedicated to raising funds in support of needy students.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed that the County Government of Meru, under the leadership of H.E. Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing young talents and creating platforms for them to showcase their skills. She emphasized that such initiatives not only expose the youth to global scouting opportunities but also empower them to monetize their talents. She further invited participants and stakeholders to take part in the County Government of Meru Mountain Run, scheduled for early 2026.
The Deputy Governor commended Meru University for organizing the impactful event, noting that it highlights the county’s rich tourism diversity, promotes agrotourism, and positions Meru as a global destination. She added that such efforts continue to attract investors and tourists, thereby boosting the local economy.

Carol Kaberia; South Imenti MP, Dr. Shadrack Mwiti; Tigania West MP, Dr. John Mutunga; and Nkuene Ward MCA, Martin Koome.
