High dignitaries, football legends, athletics icons, and hundreds of passionate fans converged at Maili Tatu Grounds in Njia Ward for the official launch of the Governor Mutuma Super Cup.

The competition, themed "More Than a Game," has already attracted an impressive 600 football teams and 700 athletics teams from across the county.

The technical knock-out stage for the teams is set to kick off next week, with two teams per ward advancing to the next level.

Winners will walk away with millions in cash prizes, with the football champions taking home KSh 1,000,000, while the second-place team will receive KSh 750,000, and the third and fourth teams will earn KSh 500,000 and KSh 300,000 respectively. In athletics, the top performer will pocket KSh 35,000.

The colorful event was graced by several distinguished leaders, including Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, CECMs, Members of the National Assembly, Meru Senator Hon. Kathuri Murungi, and Embu Senator Hon. Alexander Munyi Mundigi. Also in attendance were Members of the County Assembly, celebrated football legends such as Dennis Oliech, Coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee, and Musa Otieno, as well as renowned athletics icons.
