ON MATTERS SECURITY

Security in Nyambene & Buuri has improved significantly.

With NPR support, new camps, patrol vehicles, food supplies and the resumed Horn of Africa Gateway Project, cattle rustling has drastically reduced.

Our people and their livestock are now safer than ever.

HEALTHCARE

Healthcare is transforming across Meru:

  • 111M for CHP stipends

  • Abandoned maternity & theatres revived (Nthambiro, Mutuati, Muthara, Theerra)

  • 400+ staff promoted

  • Ksh 200M in medical supplies distributed

  • MeTRH upgrade to Level 6 with new 250-bed block

  • Countywide cancer screening & treatment expansion

  • Telemedicine rollout begins this year

    Meru’s journey to world-class healthcare is firmly on track.

    ROADS & INFRASTRUCTURE

    Our infrastructure push is historic:

  • 455 km of new access roads opened

  • 507 km graded

  • 309 km graveled

  • 478 metres of culverts installed

  • 95 gabions built

  • 5 new bridges constructed

    With Ksh 1.333B allocated this year, Meru is becoming more accessible, safer, and economically vibrant.

    YOUTH, SPORTS & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

    Youth are at the centre of our transformation:

  • Governor’s Cup 2025 running across all sub-counties

  • Sports equipment distributed to 40 schools & teams

  • Ksh 52M youth & sports ward fund items delivered

  • Makutano Bodaboda fuel station completed

  • Karithiria youth concrete yard & social hall launched

  • Ksh 87M youth empowerment investment this year

  • Kiirua/Naari Rehabilitation Centre nearing completion

  • Rukisha Women Fund (Ksh 24M) underway

  • PWD SACCO support worth 12M

    Meru is empowering youth, women and PWDs with real opportunities.

    TRADE, TOURISM, COOPERATIVES AND INDUSTRIALIZATION

    Key progress includes:

  • Ksh 20M boost to cooperatives (milk cans, maize, seedlings)

  • Miraa Promotion Bill 2025 + Ksh 7M Miraa SACCO support

  • Keeria & Timau tourism gateway signage

  • Processing hubs through CAIPs for miraa, avocado, macadamia, tea, dairy

  • Banana fibre & biomass project to benefit 10,000 households

    AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK & FISHERIES

    Agriculture remains Meru’s heartbeat:

  • 285,000 farmers digitized

  • 72,000 avocado & 22,200 macadamia seedlings distributed

  • 58 tonnes of certified maize seed supplied

  • Ksh 15.2M for vaccines & vet supplies

  • Ksh 3M for subsidized AI

  • Ksh 23.3M to strengthen fisheries

    Our farmers are firmly on the path to higher productivity and profitability

    WATER & ENVIRONMENT

    Major water investments include:

  • 6 new boreholes producing 480,000 litres/day

  • 9 more boreholes under development

  • 6 boreholes rehabilitated

  • 135 km of new pipelines laid

  • 22,546 pipes distributed

  • 9,000 water tanks issued

  • Ksh 1B allocated through FLLoCA for climate-resilient water projects

    Water security is improving across all wards.

    EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION & VTCs

    Education remains a priority:

  • 50M VTC trainee capitation

  • 5M equipment for beauty training

  • 19.2M for VTC infrastructure

  • Ksh 54M ECDE feeding programme

  • 39 new ECDE classrooms to be built

  • 18 ongoing classrooms to be completed

  • 1,693 ECDE teachers under Scheme of Service

    Meru is investing strongly in the future of its children and youth.

    PUBLIC SERVICE & FINANCE

    Under public service transformation:

  • 400+ staff promoted

  • Staff paid on time

  • Schemes of service to be fully implemented

  • Own Source Revenue rising from Ksh 580M to 758M due to automation

  • Stronger litigation management to protect public funds

    Meru’s public service is becoming more professional, efficient and accountable.

    Staff promotion for staff who have stagnated for long to be effected this financial year.
