H.E. Governor Rev. Mutuma Reaffirms Commitment To Transforming Agriculture In Meru County.

H.E. Governor Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transforming agriculture, recognizing it as the backbone of Meru County's economy and the primary source of livelihood for thousands of families.

Speaking during the issuance of agricultural support to farmers and cooperatives, the Governor emphasized that his administration is focused on empowering farmers through strategic investments that enhance productivity, improve value chains, and create sustainable economic opportunities.

As part of these efforts, the Governor issued cheques to Farmers' SACCOs to strengthen access to agricultural financing and cooperative development. He also handed over a tractor under the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) to support animal feed production, a key initiative aimed at improving livestock productivity across the county.

In addition, farmers received milk cans, sexed semen preservation containers, and avocado seedlings to enhance dairy and horticultural production while promoting the adoption of modern farming practices.

The Governor noted that these interventions are intended to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen farmer cooperatives, promote value addition, improve food security, and increase household incomes. He reiterated that investing in agriculture remains central to his administration's development agenda and will continue to drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of Meru residents.

Through these initiatives, the County Government of Meru is laying a strong foundation for a more productive, resilient, and prosperous agricultural sector, ensuring that farmers remain at the heart of the county's economic transformation.
