I WANT THE YOUTHS OF MERU TO BE SYMBOLS OF SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY; GOVERNOR KIRAITU SAYS.

Meru County marked this year’s 55th Jamuhuri day by giving young people a chance to show case their talents in various fields.

Speaking when he led the county to celebrate the day at Kinoru stadium, Governor Kiraitu assured the young people that his administration will fully support their talents.

"I want the youths of meru to be a symbol of success and prosperity, therefore they must be part of the answers to the problems that we are facing as a county," Murungi noted.

The Governor said that Meru Economic and Social Council have been tasked to come up with vision 2040 which will mostly benefit the youths who will be the implementers of it. He promised to work with the youths to transform meru county economically and socially.

"I challenge every youths in this County to do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are to make your Meru great as well as the community that you live in.

Governor Kiraitu added that he launched Meru Cultural Board to not only promote culture and heritage but also to find ways of promoting music and creative arts among the youths as a source of employment he said that he wants merians to be recognized nationally for their songs, music and dances.

"we cannot be truly free unless we know who we are as people, I want our young people to learn and embrace the kimeru way of life, lets us be proud of our language, culture and identity," the Governor added.

Murungi also noted that his administration will work with the boda boda saccos to ensure that the riders gets free treatment in all public hospitals through meru care card program that will be launched early next week.

On his part Deputy Governor hon Titus Ntuchiu urged meru resident to be calm and give the county government time to work for them.

He said that as the CEC in charge of finance he will ensure that their money is used well in development that are beneficial to the common mwananchi. He dismissed claims by some people in social media that the Government is not doing enough, he termed the claims as mare propaganda that is being driven by people who want to gain political mileage.

County Commissioner, assured meru residents that their security will be guaranteed during the festive season and cautioned the criminals that they will be dealt with.

He added that enough personnel’s have deployed to the areas that are prone to cattle rustling to avert any threat.
