he Newly formed Meru County Cultural Board has been tasked to establish an annual Kimeru cultural festivals, a Cultural center, and a kimeru Institute among other factions.

Speaking when he officially launched the board Governor Kiraitu noted that the team comprises of Qualified personnel’s who have a background in Culture and heritage, elders, and young musicians among others.

"East or West home is the best, our home is Meru where we have a very rich culture and traditions our aim is to bring that Culture back," Murungi added.

The Governor urged parents to teach the children especially those that are born and raised in Urban centers Kimeru language as part of bringing the culture back.

He said that the country Government is committed to reclaim the Meru Culture and urged the newly commissioned board to sphere programs that will make Marians to be proud of their songs, dances and traditions.

Murungi also affirmed that his administrations is commitment to support the young and upcoming musicians and artists.

On his part Deputy Governor Hon Titus Ntuchiu who is the CEC member for finance promised that the Government will support the board to make its programs successful.

" We have several programs that we are planning to undertake as far as coordinating of artists and musicians is concern," DG noted.

He added that the County Government is putting enough measures to ensure that the Meru Culture is preserved. He asked the residents to support the board as it performs it's fictions.

Dr Mwirigi Amanja, the Board Chair, assured the Governor that they will everything possible to restore the Meru Culture.

The event was attended by County Secretary Dr Rufus Miriti, Chief of staff Mr Gideon Kimathi and young musicians among others.
