The department is holding consultations to ensure successful implementation of the program."We are going to work on a robust monitoring and evaluation once the program is rolled out to ensure a smooth implementation" CECM Health,Mr Meshack Mutuma said. He added Increasing human resource will better health services for the residents.
In anticipation for the rollout of the universal healthcare the department has hired a Director of public health, 5 nutrition officers, 2 clinical anastheistist, 5 radiographers, 4 medical laboratory technologist, 9 plaster technologist, 10 medical doctors and 50 nursing officers. The department will continue hiring more personnel to ensure accessible and prompt service delivery.
The construction of ultra-modern ICU unit and and 420 bed ward block is ongoing at Meru level 5 will see the issue of sharing of beds and referrals come to an ultimate end. Also under construction is a renal unit.
Dr.Kanana Kimonye,the chief officer health said the department is holding periodic training for the staff capacity development. Meru county will be a model county for the free healthcare provision for all.
